About BWSWDA
The Black Warrior Solid waste Disposal Authority (BWSWDA) owns and operates the BWSWDA facility located on Highway 82 West in Northport, Alabama. We are a RCRA sub-title D waste facility which handles municipal solid waste, commercial waste, industrial waste, and approved special waste.
We are an Alabama non-profit public corporation, that is not tax-funded. The BWSWDA management is a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 9 members. Three members are appointed by each of the three local governments who established BWSWDA including the City of Northport, the City of Tuscaloosa, and Tuscaloosa County.
Day-to-day operations are handled by the executive director, operations manager, and supervisor, along with a staff of 13 employees.

The mission of the Black Warrior Solid Waste Disposal facility is to safely dispose of solid waste in a technology-progressive facility that meets or exceeds all federal and state regulations, is competitively priced, and is ecologically friendly to the surrounding environment and wildlife.
The Black Warrior Solid Waste Disposal Facility is owned and operated by the Black Warrior Solid Waste Authority, which was formed in 1994 by the City of Tuscaloosa, the City of Northport and the Tuscaloosa County Commission, to provide for the long-term safe and sanitary disposal of solid waste for the current and future generations of Tuscaloosa County.

Rates
Electronics and automotive batteries accepted for recycling at normal rates.
We DO NOT accept tires, liquids, or appliances that have ever contained freon.
